COCC and OSU Libraries are members of the Orbis-Cascade Alliance, a consortium of academic libraries in the Northwest. One of the major benefits of membership in this consortium is access to patron initiated borrowing of library materials represented on Summit, the Orbis-Cascade Alliance union catalog, which contains the holdings of all Orbis- Cascade Alliance members.
What is Summit borrowing? Who is eligible to use Summit borrowing?
Summit borrowing is an interlibrary loan service for current, credit-enrolled students, faculty and staff of COCC and OSU Cascades Campus. The service is quick and easy to use at any time, any day, from the library, home or office, by connecting to Summit catalog.
What can I request through Summit borrowing?
All Orbis-Cascade Alliance member libraries loan circulating books through this service, and some member libraries may loan other types of materials, such as videos. Summit will let you know if the material you requested is not available, in which case you may want to check with our interlibrary loan office for help.
How can I request Summit materials?
You can initiate a request as you are using Summit union catalog to search for materials. Once you have identified an item that you want to borrow, simply follow the on-screen instructions, starting with "REQUEST THIS ITEM." The system will ask you for your name and an identification number (usually your social security number). Summit will let you know if the item is available and responds when it has placed the request.
Where can I pick up or return Summit materials?
Materials will be delivered for you to pick up at the library circulation desk within a couple of working days. Books are due back in 3 weeks and other selected materials such as videos in 3 days. These items need to be returned at the Campus Library.
Are there any late fees for overdue Summit materials?
Late fees are charged as follows: $0.50 per day for the first 10 days, $1.00 per day for the next 15 days. Lost item charge: $75.00 plus $15 processing fee.
