Depending on your computer set up, after you authenticate for remote access to the CQ Researcher, you may be directed to the database’s login page at which point you will be unable to enter the CQ Researcher. To resolve this problem:
a. if your computer is equipped with the Norton anti-virus software, you need to allow the referring URL information for the CQ Researcher site following the instructions posted at:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/46f26a2d6dafb0a788256bc7005c3fa3/b9b47ad7eddd343b88256c6b006a85a8
Note: this configuration does not pose any virus risks for your computer.
b. If you are using a Mac, use Netscape (http://browser.netscape.com/downloads/) for your browser. There seem to be problems accessing the database on a Mac through Internet Explorer or Safari.
c. If you are using Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer should work fine. However, you may need to open up your browser cookies as follows: click on Tools (on the Explorer menu bar), select Internet Options, Privacy tab, click on "Advanced" and select "Override automatic cookie handling," "Accept First and Third-party cookies," and "Always allow session cookies."
d. if all else fails, please call the Reference desk (541-383-7567) during our normal business hours to get a password for accessing the database.
