Redmond and off-campus services for COCC patrons

Can I pick up my library books at the Redmond Campus?

Yes!  Students are now able to request delivery of library books to the Redmond Campus.  Click  on Redmond library delivery services to get more information on how to use and sign up for this service.

How can I search and access articles from off-campus?

Current, credit-enrolled COCC students, faculty, and staff have remote access to our full-text article databases to review, print, and save complete journal articles from off-campus locations. For a complete list of and information on the library's databases use the drop down menu under "Articles & More: Databases" located on the main library web page.

When accessing COCC databases from off-campus locations you will be asked to enter your last name and your COCC student id number.

Please contact Tina Hovekamp  (541) 383-7295, if you have problems accessing our library databases.

How can I search for books in our COCC library?

Online library catalogs allow you to search for books, audiovisual materials, or periodical subscriptions (note: the catalog can search only for the names of the periodicals we subscribe to but does not search for articles within these periodicals).  Here at the COCC Barber Library, our library catalog provides you access to 70,000 books or so, over 1,500 videos, a number of government publications, and to the titles of over 400 periodicals we subscribe to.

To search our Barber Library collection, on the main library web page, under "Books & More: Library Catalogs" click on COCC Catalog, You may do keyword, author, title, etc searches to locate materials in our library.

Also, if you already have COCC materials checked out, to renew them, click on the "My Library" icon on the main library web page.  For additional information visit our Circulation & Fines web page.

How can I search and request materials from other library collections?

The tool you need to use to search and request books from other library is Summit. Summit is the combined catalog of a consortium of academic libraries in the Northwest and your main access to library collections beyond COCC.

You may access this catalog via the main library web page, under "Books & More: Library Catalogs" by clicking on the link Summit.

Besides searching a huge collection of library materials, Summit allows students to request any of the circulating materials (mainly books) electronically. Once you identify an item that you want to borrow, simply follow the on-screen instructions. The system will ask you for your name and an identification number (your college ID number).

Summit materials are delivered to the COCC Barber Library for you to pick up normally within three to four working days. Once these items arrive to our library, you may receive them by coming to our Barber Library or, as mentioned above, you may use our library Redmond Campus delivery services to arrange a pick up at the Redmond Campus.

Summit items are due back in 6 weeks (AV materials are due in 6 days).  Note that for Summit materials, late fees are charged as follows: $0.50 per day for the first 10 days, $1.00 per day for the next 15 days. Lost item charge: $75.00 plus $15 processing fee.

What if I can't find what I need in our COCC or Summit library collections?

For materials not available through our full-text databases, COCC Catalog, or Summit you may use our regular Interlibrary Loan services. To request these materials, you may use our online interlibrary loan form, also located under "Library Services," "Library Forms," on the main library web page.

Interlibrary loan journal articles will be scanned and emailed to your COCC email address. Interlibrary loan books are delivered to the COCC Barber Library for you to pick up within 7-10 days. Again, note that patrons may also request delivery of Interlibrary Loan books to the Redmond Campus (see above highlighted information).

To renew interlibrary loan books call our Interlibrary Loan servivces at (541)383-7561 or e-mail ill@cocc.edu

What are online reserve course readings (e-reserves)?

E-reserves are readings faculty use and make available to students in their specific classes. These course readings are available via the "e-Reserves" icon on the main library web page.
