Collene Peterson Funk

Collene Peterson Funk is a writer and freelance editor. She moved to Bend in 2005 and, since then, has become well acquainted with many community writers. She has been a featured reader at several Word Cafés hosted by former COCC Scholars in Residence, and she facilitates monthly meetings for the Longtable Writers, a local group of professional level authors. 

 Long  active in the arts and volunteerism, Collene donates time as a copy editor for the High Desert Journal, and has served on many directorial boards including the Community Arts Foundation of Central Oregon, and the Richland (Washington) Community Concert Association.  She has worked with the American Diabetes Association, and has been awarded for her work with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

 In 2008, Collene earned her MFA in Writing from Pacific University.  She is currently working on a memoir which focuses on her experiences of running five international marathons to raise money for disease research.
