In celebration of Oregon’s 150th Sesquicentennial Anniversary, “Perceptions of the Past” brings the work of writers and artists from throughout the state, providing the opportunity to encounter interpretations of Oregon’s past in contemporary cultural format that crosses artistic disciplines. Thirteen professional writers from throughout the state have been given a copy of one of the historic photographs to write a subjective description of the image. A copy of the written works was sent to each of the thirteen professional Oregon artists who created a two-dimensional piece of artwork based solely on the written description without viewing the original photo.
This exhibit is on loan from the FireHouse Gallery of Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, Oregon. Perceptions of the Past will be available for public viewing until the first of December in the Rotunda Gallery located in the Barber Library, Central Oregon Community College Campus.
